This is Harlen's whale quilt. I wanted to make him something that could tie in his heritage. The circle in the center is the Eye of Awareness. It represents his region of Alaska, the Yupik people. He is from a village that is on the south west border of Alaska, it sits on a coast of the Bering Sea. The natives in this region historically were whalers.
This quilt matches Harlen's bedroom.
I am so very proud of my new diaper bag. I was sick of having a big bag with a black hole in the middle. I couldn't ever find what I needed. I decided to design and make my own bag so I would have exactly what I needed and wanted.
One compartment to hold papers, or my calendar that goes the length of the bag and five smaller compartments to hold my wallet, diapers, bottles, snacks, and whatever else I need. I always know where my things are and that makes me happy.
I made these for Ila for Christmas. She LOVES flowers. She spent all of last summer picking flowers and has had to be creative to do that activity with so much snow on the ground outside. When I am sewing she likes to take my pin cushion and "plant" the pins in the carpet. I don't mind that she does this, except it worries me that she will leave some out and we have a small human vacuum at our house. I had Jon cut 3/4 inch pvc pipe into 4 inch lengths and I glued them together to make a flower pot. Then I made felt flowers, lots and lots of flowers. She gasped with delight when she opened this gift. I have special birthday flowers that she has prepared for me right now. What girl doesn't love a fresh bouquet of flowers? Harlen's old man suit was so much fun! I went to the thrift store and bought the tie and a pair of old man pants. I made Harlen's pants and the suspenders using the old man's pants. He looks so distinguished wearing such fine attire. Very high cost, $3 to be precise. This is his official birthday suit.
Ila got a home made Can Can skirt too. Lots of girlie ruffles of chiffon. I ordered several colors of chiffon, it is waiting patiently to be used, I haven't decided what to make yet, the possibilities are endless!

These are all awesome- you are so talented and creative I love it! The flowers are so dang cute!
Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. What a good idea to make little pants out DI pants. And love the diaper bag, skirt, flowers, and the cake. You are so talented! I keep thinking maybe someday when Cohen is older I will have more time to create things that aren't just for other people, but then I remember I have another baby on the way who will not be sleep trained for the first couple months of her life...and then there goes that idea.
Can you come live with me for a few days and teach me to sew? PLEASE!!! LOVE all the fun projects. I am very jealous. I did sew my girls little blue skirts for a cheer camp they did and they turned out really cute. Gave me a small boost of confidence that maybe I can sew...maybe.
I just want to eat him up!
You are soooo creative!

I really like the diaper bag too! You just might want to start an online store or something. I can't believe you've found time to make all that stuff. You're amazing and I'm oohing and ahhhing at everything.
You have to be THE most creative gal I've ever met! I love you to bits, girl!
