My Cherub is One!

 

My sweet Cherub is a one year old!  I can't believe that he is already one, it seems like we just got to take him home a few months ago.  Oh wait, it really has only been a few months.  In so many ways it feels like we've had this little guy for much longer than 3 months.  He is such a sweet little (okay BIG) baby.  He makes us laugh and brightens our days and fills our nights with peacefully sleeping.  I think I got a  pretty good deal, we haven't had any sleepless nights.  In fact, I'm going to brag a little, please don't hate me for this.  Harlen goes to sleep at 6:30 pm.  Yes that's right, 6:30.  He sleeps through the night without making a peep, and will wake up around 8 am.  Sometimes after his morning sippy cup of milk at 8, he will fall back to dream land and wake again at 10 am.  He also takes 2 hr naps in the afternoon regardless of if he sleeps until 8 or 10 am.  He could win a best baby award with these sleeping habits!  

We are still trying to perfect getting good pictures with two children at the same time.  Ila and Harlen match going to church most Sundays.  I just can't help myself.  This was the morning of his birthday.

 

At least one of the kids is smiling.  

 

I made Harlen's cake.  It was a Magnificent Mud Cake.  Oh so delicious.  I had lots of fun decorating an Alaskan themed cake.

 

Please note the harpoon, he is ready to catch his first whale.  

 

Yum!  No other words necessary.  

 

Harlen was very unsure of what he was supposed to do with his cake.  He just sat there and looked at us in confusion for a while.  Jon helped him take a bite and after that he would take little pinches of cake.  He never did really dig in.  He licked his fingers with each bite, making sure to get each morsel.

 

 

 

Chocolate overload!  What a fun birthday.  I'm so glad we get to have him in our home.  He fits in here pretty good.  I think we'll keep him. :)
