I can't believe she's 4. This year for her birthday I failed as a mother. I had every intention of having a party, and now it's been six weeks since her big day and not one party plan has been made. She's so sweet though, and doesn't really know the difference. So I'm going to let myself off the hook for this year. She did get presents, two cakes, and we went to Benihana's for her special birthday dinner with Oma and Pampa.
I am in awe at her. She makes me smile everyday. Our lives have been hectic and busy and crazy the past several months. More changes have been made to our family dynamic than should ever be made in the span of a few months. Just to recap the past 4 months: Harlen moved, Jon deployed, and Richard is about to move. Soon a precious baby girl will join our family, and after that our daddy will come home too. That's a lot for a little girl to take in. She has done so gracefully and has accepted each change with a smile on her face. I am so proud!
Ila has an amazing imagination and is very into doing art projects. This she calls her silly airplane. She has been a bit obsessed with tape lately. It's a very handy tool to have around for a young girl.
I love you Ila! You make me smile and laugh everyday.

Oh wow, that is lots of changes in your family lately. Glad you posted, so we could keep up.
Her artwork is fabulous! My 4 year is loving this "artful" stage of childhood too! Tape, scissors, construction paper and an imagination sure go a long ways. Oh yeah, let her have at the stapler too!
Happy homemaking and decorating at your house!
