I am a Real Mom

I don't know why it hit me recently, but I've realized that I am in fact a mom, a real life mom of three children.  I'm not sure how this information slipped by me until recently, but it hit me hard.  I am a real mom.  Wow, and I have three kids!!  I love each of my kids, they are all incredible!  It's so rewarding to see them learn and grow, and to see them happy.  I love seeing their smiling faces.  I also take great pleasure in watching their sad faces, they are so cute and funny, it's hard not to laugh sometimes.  They make me happy.  Life is good.  These three kids of mine also know how to push a sane woman to the brink of hysteria.  They are professionals I tell you.  How is it that I can love them so much and they drive me so crazy!  I don't understand. Aahh, motherhood.  Screaming, crying, tantrums, and tears mixed in with laughter and love.

I'm so proud of Ila!  She has gone from an only child to a big sister of 2 brothers in less than 4 months.  She loves her brothers so much!  Today she insisted on feeding Harlen his lunch because obviously he is too young to feed himself at 14 months old.  He was patient with her "help" and she was just happy as ever to be of assistance while I was feeding Richard his bottle.  It's the little things that make a difference.  Seriously though, Ila is so sweet.  She cares about her family, she loves to help, is very polite, and I think she's the cutest little girl in the world.  She's bursting with personality and makes me laugh everyday.
Harlen cracks me up!  He is playing peek a boo in the above picture.  Each time he "hides" from us he puts his hands in a different place on his head, always with at least one eye showing if not two.  He is crawling super fast and loves to find trouble.  He is sweet and innocent while you are making eye contact, and then when he thinks I'm not looking he proceeds to experiment with unauthorized activities, such as putting my cell phone in his mouth.  He's a tricky little guy.  He does have a very sweet side as well.  He likes to rest his head on my shoulder.  He gives fantastic slobbery kisses and loves to be close to me wherever I am.  He crawls into my lap when I'm on the floor and we read books and play with toys together.
Richard is so sweet and little!  He's just starting to coo at us and he smiles so sweetly.  He rolled over for the first time yesterday!  He has recently taken an interest in eating his toys.  He loves taking baths and is so happy to kick his legs in the water.  He loves his blankie and puts his fingers and toes through the holes.
We are a little busy at times, a little tired and cranky at others.  Life is hectic with 3 small children.  I guess the good thing is that I'm never alone.  Never a dull moment in this house.

Oh those pics of the fingers and toes in the blankie holes are so cute! Glad you're enjoying the experience, not getting mad, but taking lots of pictures *wink*

That is so true. I can remember the craziness from being mother of two to mother of three and I had 21 months to prep myself for it. There were times when we'd all sit on the couch, my lap full with three kids and then we'd all cry together. Fortunately there are all those wondefully fun things like toes through blankets that make such nice memories or Ila feeding Harlen. I LOVE being a mom. Glad you do too. Oh and I always thought of you as a real mom. :) You're a great mom.

I think you are totally an inspiration and a real fantastic example to all of us moms. Personally, I liked you from the moment I met you! You all need to come over and keep my little hellions company soon...OK? Consider that an open invitation (and we have all the stuff you need here so stay as long as you want and visit). HUGS! keep up the great blogging!
