Adventure

So in May we planned a week vacation, destination Oahu, Hawaii.  There are a few perks to Jon's job.  We can fly for free on military planes, the only catch is there is no guarantee you'll have a seat on the plane, or your connecting plane.  You have to be flexible and willing to change your plans.

This was our first C-17 plane ride.  Our plan was to go to Hawaii, but we ended up stuck in Sacramento for a few days, and rather than waste those precious vacation days we decided to drive Fallon, NV.  Not quite Hawaii, but it was fun to see some of our family.  We decided to leave our foster babies home, I needed a break!  The boys wouldn't have liked the plane ride either, it was very loud and I doubt we could have kept the ear plugs in their ears for very long.

Ila thought it was so much fun!  She's always up for an adventure.
Grandma Anna was hilarious to watch playing Perfection!  She jumped out of her chair every time the game board popped up.  We all had a good laugh and had fun playing games.
Ila loves her daddy!  She got in some much needed one on one time.
Since Jon is getting ready to leave we went and had a pillow case made on base with a picture on it.  This is the picture she chose to have on her pillow.  Daddy hugging her.  So sweet.
These two are so silly together!
We got to meet our nephew Johnny!  He is so cute and super smart and fast at everything.  He is the same age as Richard,  but he is leaps and bounds ahead in development.  Makes an auntie proud!
Ila with Grandma Velma.
Ila has told us for several months that "When I was a little kid, my grandpa took me fishing."  I always laughed because she hadn't been fishing with Grandpa, and she is still very much a little kid.  We were able to squeeze in a fishing outing with Grandpa and Grandma Bishop so that now Ila is telling a real story of her childhood.
At the end of the week we packed up and drove back to California to try and catch a plane.  We had fun going home and seeing lots of people who love us.

I'm so glad you got to take a trip before Jon leaves. It looks like it was wonderful.
